This Recipe is something my Grandmother used to make and started more than 70 years ago. It's a favorite for us.
I catori of breadcrumbs
1 catori of ghee
Lots of dry fruit. Almonds should be soaked in water, skinned and cut into strips
Crushed elaichi
Sugar - a little less than a full cup (we like it less sweet but tastes can vary depending on a person)
2.5 times the amount of water of the sugar measurement.
Roast the breadcrumbs in a dry karai till a nice light brown. Be careful to do it in a low flame and keep stirring as it is very light and can burn easily.
Once brown add the ghee and carry on roasting. Don't switch off the gas.
Boil the water and sugar together along with the elaichi powder and pour it into the karai which is on low heat and stir it till it is slightly wet.
Switch off the gas and add the dry fruit and and cover for a minute.
Serve hot and fresh.
